#12 - What is the question of all questions?

What is at the very beginning of a fiction story, a novel? What are screenplays, short stories, plays built on? The characters? What drives the idea for the plot? The author's message? Mostly none of the above, but an important question and that is often a variant of: "Who am I and if so: why?"

The right question is the power lever of story, so that we can use stories to explain ourselves and our worlds to each other.

Those who can really ask can question, can question - themselves and their actions, their own intentions, their concerns, their truth(s). Can ask: what is good, and how good am I at being good?

The power of the right question is almost synonymous with the power that stories have to make us strong as people, teams and societies. Every important fictional story deals with an essential basic question of life. We read along, we live along.

How you can use this for yourself and for your story - for your vital inner story - and why you need it, I share some thoughts with you here.
